"How can I deliver more content in less time?"
That's the single question we heard most often at the IBC show last month. If you were one of the throngs of industry pilgrims who made their way to Amsterdam, perhaps that's still the question that stands out as you sort through the masses of wonderful products, ideas and buzzwords on offer there.
At the Ooyala booth we had hundreds of engaging conversations about the direction that the media and entertainment industry is taking, and how this translates into specific technology needs for content creators and distributors. We also heard a lot of related questions around streamlining the business of content creation and multi-platform delivery. How can we reduce resource bottlenecks and increase automation? Can we get better visibility of how our business runs? Can you help us optimise operations?
It's all about revenue
The Ooyala Flex Media Platform resonated well amongst our visitors, as it helps answer those questions as it solves modern production, delivery and monetization challenges. As we demonstrated at IBC, our solutions address your needs for:
- Live Streaming - Live high-quality channels and events
- Content Production -Manage and orchestrate the content pipeline
- Content Distribution - Bring engaging content to any and every channel
- Intelligent Archive - Content archive solutions that drive revenues higher
- Digital Video Playout - Best-of-breed MAM-based Content Management System (CMS), Video On Demand (VOD) and analytics
As we proved to our visitors, increased efficiency opens the door to new revenue opportunities. It stands to reason: When you produce more content and distribute to more channels, you can truly grow your business opportunities.
The demand for live sport continues
Live streaming for sports events and live-to-VOD clipping and fast turnarounds were the topic of many a discussion at IBC. The Ooyala Flex Media Platform's capabilities for live clipping and automated workflows for multi-platform distribution fill those needs beautifully. We're now continuing those conversations post-IBC to help clients put those workflows in place.
Keep an eye on IMF
Distribution challenges are growing, so it’s no surprise we saw increased interest in the IMF specification at IBC 2018. Ooyala continues to extend its support for IMF-centric workflows powering all stages of the content supply chain, including Digital Video Playout. As we discussed at IBC, the Ooyala Flex Media Platform now natively supports receipt of Interoperable Master Packages (IMPs) and transcodes them into renditions required for streaming to customer devices.
