Beer, shrimp on the barbie, rugby… just a few of the things done well in Australia. Now, according to new research, you can add digital advertising to that list.
Frost & Sullivan said online ad spending made up more than a quarter of the spend in the market, reaching $3.74 billion in 2013, a 16% increase.
Overall, ad spend was up just 1.4% to $13.9 billion.
Driven by smartphones and tablet sales, smart device shipments are expected to grow 14 percent annually and surpass 2 billion by 2016.
Smartphone penetration is ramping up at a rate 10 times that of the 80's PC boom, according to new figures from app measurement company Flurry.
In all, the company estimates more than 640 million iOS and Android devices were in use in July. The U.S. leads in the number of active smart devices with 165 million, followed by China, the U.K. and South Korea.
