Online video & mobile adverts growing at blistering pace in Australia

Beer, shrimp on the barbie, rugby… just a few of the things done well in Australia. Now, according to new research, you can add digital advertising to that list.

Frost & Sullivan said online ad spending made up more than a quarter of the spend in the market, reaching $3.74 billion in 2013, a 16% increase.

Overall, ad spend was up just 1.4% to $13.9 billion.

China Leads Global Smartphone Adoption

Smartphone penetration is ramping up at a rate 10 times that of the 80's PC boom, according to new figures from app measurement company Flurry.

In all, the company estimates more than 640 million iOS and Android devices were in use in July. The U.S. leads in the number of active smart devices with 165 million, followed by China, the U.K. and South Korea.

You might have been swiping and pinching on the new iPad since its release in March, but the Chinese finally got their hands on Apple's latest tablet July 20. Since then, it's seen ad impressions on the iPad ramp up 150 percent, according to data from Velti's State of Mobile Advertising.
