Brazilian telco Oi is partnering with Sony and HBO/MAX to offer premium content to its pay-TV and broadband subscribers.
Oi is offering Sony’s Crackle and HBO Go unbundled to Oi subscribers.
The SVOD services are being used as value added services to broadband subscribers specifically, regardless of whether or not they subscribe to Oi’s pay-TV service.
“Launching this new service, which brings relevant content to our broadband offering, is part of Oi’s strategy of transforming customers’ demands into telecom services,” said Oi’s Retail Director Bernardo Winik.
New customers of Oi Total will have access to the HBO Go platform, which includes some 2,500 titles of the best content from HBO.
The deal with Sony allows broadband customers of Oi Total to access on demand streaming from Crackle, which includes VOD from Canal Sony and AXN programming. Crackle’s new SVOD model earlier launched in Mexico.
“The audience is increasingly demanding flexible and customized consumption options,” said Alberto Niccoli, VP and GM in Brazil of Canal Sony and AXN. “Our content couldn’t be left out of this trend.”
