Google has long established that their SEO algorithm includes page speed as a ranking factor. This was further emphasized in early 2018 when they announced it would be a factor for their mobile index, whereas previously the page speed variable was only applied to the desktop browser index.

For several quarters we’ve reported in the Global Video Index that long-form (20+ mins.) video increased to over 50% of time watched on every device: connected TVs, tablets, PCs, even smartphones, the smallest screen of all and a bit of a head-scratcher. This quarter, again, long-form made up more than 50% of time watched on every screen. It was the third time in the past five quarters that’s happened. It is no longer an anomaly, it’s a trend. Not surprisingly, long-form and ultra-long-form content is watched to completion most often on PCs, to the tune of 71% for 20+ min. content and 59% for 40+ min. content.
