Ooyala’s Mosaic Player Technology Powers The Unique Online Experience
NEW YORK and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (September 9, 2014) CBS Local Sports today announced the launch of a new personalized video experience that allows fans to stream multiple sports shows on a single screen. Using Ooyala’s mosaic player technology, sports fans can simultaneously view behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and host interaction, and toggle audio across five different CBS RADIO shows at once.
With Gridcast, sports fans can choose between content from CBS Sports Radio or CBS RADIO stations 670 The Score in Chicago, 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C., 92.9 The Game in Atlanta, and SportsRadio 610 in Houston. An easy drag-and-drop interface enables quick selection between the different video streams, and each stream can be supported with pre-roll ads at the start of each video, or every time a user switches between videos.
Available on desktop today, CBS Local Sports’ rollout of Ooyala’s mosaic player is the first public application of the new multi-video distribution experience.
“CBS RADIO stations have a strong base of sports fans across the U.S. with a high degree of interest in multiple news stories, trending topics and personalities across the entire spectrum of sports,” said Ezra Kucharz, President of CBS Local Digital Media. “We’re excited to give fans the power to adjust and direct their own digital viewing experience based on what’s most important to them.”
“Whether it’s TV, radio or other streamed content, people want to be able to direct their own experience,” said Jonathan Wilner, vice president of products for Ooyala. “CBS Radio is a unique example of elevating the local on-air radio experience to a broader national audience and empowering people to create their own personalized viewing experience.”
