Jay FulcherJAY FULCHER, CEO

Jay Fulcher oversees all aspects of Ooyala's strategy and operations, and is especially focused on growing Ooyala's brand and expanding its business globally. Jay is a member of the Ooyala Board of Directors.

Jay is a veteran of Silicon Valley, and has an extensive track record of driving revenue and market share growth in technology companies for more than 20 years. Before joining Ooyala, Jay was President & CEO of Agile Software, a leading publicly held Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) company with over 11,000 customers with a tremendous reputation for customer success. Agile was acquired by Oracle in late 2007. Before Agile, Jay was EVP at PeopleSoft, where he led the transformation of the company's $1+B global services organization, and was President of its $400+M Products Division. Jay's earlier career included VP roles at SAP, and as SVP of worldwide sales and marketing at Red Pepper Software (acquired by PeopleSoft in 1996).

Jay has a B.S. in Management from San Jose State University, and serves on the advisory board for the school's Lucas Graduate School and College of Business.

Sean KnappSEAN KNAPP, CTO

Sean Knapp is a co-founder of Ooyala. As the company's CTO and President of Technology, he oversees all engineering and helps define and execute Ooyala's product strategies.

Before founding Ooyala, Sean worked at Google, where he developed and launched iGoogle, the company's popular customizable home page. He also was a tech lead for Google's legendary Web Search team, helping that team increase Google revenues by $1 billion. Sean's focus at Stanford and at Google was human-computer interactions and personalized user experience. He is an avid runner and competed on Stanford University's Division I track and cross country teams.

Sean has a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Bismarck LepeBISMARCK LEPE, PRESIDENT OF PRODUCTS

As an Ooyala co-founder and founding CEO, Bismarck Lepe raised $10 million in funding and signed many of the company's early media partnerships before passing the baton to Jay Fulcher in 2009. Currently, as President of Product Strategy, he is responsible for marketing and driving Ooyala's product development vision. Bismarck sits on the Ooyala Board of Directors.

Before co-founding Ooyala, Bismarck worked at Google as a Senior Product Manager, developing and managing new products for the company's AdSense network. He launched more than 25 different Google AdSense products, including Click-to-Play video ads and Google's Intelligent Ad Server, which brought the company over $1 billion dollars in new annual revenue. Most notably, Bismarck managed the early growth of AdSense display and video advertising.

Business Week named Bismarck one of its Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs of 2009. Bismarck has a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Chris WongCHRIS WONG, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development

Chris Wong leads all of Ooyala's global business development and corporate partnering efforts.

Chris has been a highly-regarded leader and strategist in enterprise software for 25 years. Most recently he served as the CEO for PathConnect, a private new media company. Earlier, he was the EVP and Chief Product Officer for Agile Software (acquired by Oracle in 2007) and VP of Products and Technology Strategy at PeopleSoft, where he charted strategy for product and technology initiatives. As the founder and CEO of SkillsVillage, Inc., he led the company from start-up to its acquisition by PeopleSoft in 2001. Chris joined Ooyala in 2010 after serving as a valued advisor on matters of business development.

Chris is an advisor to a number of new technology initiatives, including the Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy (JUCCCE). He has a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley.

Belsasar LepeBELSASAR LEPE, DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

A co-founder of Ooyala, Belsasar Lepe oversees the company's Mobile and Video Quality teams. Belsasar and his team designed and continue to develop Ooyala's innovative transcoding services and the underlying distributed transcoding infrastructure. He also manages large-scale deployment of the Ooyala platform.

Before co-founding Ooyala, Belsasar worked at Google, where he was a systems engineer with a special focus on enterprise collaboration products.

Belsasar studied computer science at Stanford University.

Bryan MorrisBRYAN J. MORRIS, VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE

Bryan Morris manages all of Ooyala's financial and administrative operations. He oversees worldwide finance, accounting, and HR functions for the company.

Bryan joined Ooyala in 2007 with 14 years of experience in private and public companies, and worked with the founding group to raise its first two rounds of funding. From 2005-07 he was Vice President of Finance for HyperRoll (now Oracle), a provider of data performance software to Fortune 500 corporations. He was part of the executive team that completed HyperRoll's strategic finance and partnership deal with Hyperion Solutions. He earlier directed financial analysis and planning at Telik, a biopharmaceutical firm with a market capitalization of over $1 billion. Earlier in his career, Bryan spent several years as an audit and M&A professional with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Bryan is a Certified Public Accountant. He has a B.A. in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Mark Fernandes

Mark Fernandes is a Managing Director at Sierra Ventures. He started his career in engineering and product management at Seagate Technology, spending extensive time in Asia at their disk drive manufacturing facilities. He subsequently worked for Cisco Systems as a product manager and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. He then worked as a research analyst with Robertson Stephens and Merrill Lynch. Mr. Fernandes’s primary investment focus is infrastructure software and the consumer Internet. Among the portfolio companies he has worked with in the past are FrontBridge (acquired by Microsoft), Sourcefire, Net6 (acquired by Citrix), Permeo (acquired by Blue Coat Systems), and uGenie (acquired by Lulu).

Along with his MBA from Harvard, Mr. Fernandes has a graduate engineering degree from University of California, Berkeley and an undergraduate engineering degree from Mangalore University.

In Sik Rhee

In Sik Rhee has nearly two decades of experience as an entrepreneur, advisor, and investor across a range of technology-enabled markets. He is a General Partner at Rembrandt Ventures, and previously spent two years as a venture partner at Accel Partners, where he helped identify new investment opportunities and served as an advisor or board member to various portfolio companies. Mr. Rhee co-founded two successful venture-backed companies: He was a co-founder and Chief Tactician at Opsware (formerly Loudcloud) which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2007; and he co-founded Kiva Software Corporation, where he architected and developed one of industry's first Java application servers. Kiva was acquired by Netscape Communications in 1997.

Mr. Rhee has a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, where he also serves on the Executive Advisory Board for the College of Engineering and the Advisory Board for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology.

Fred Warren

Fred Warren co-founded Brentwood Associates, which became a leading West Coast venture capital investment firm. Brentwood Associates was an investor in ventures including Apple, Prince, Harman International, Rental Service Company, Maxim Integrated Products and Zumiez. Before co-founding Brentwood in 1972, Mr. Warren was President and CEO of Westland Capital Corporation (a venture capital investment company) and General Television, Inc. Today, he serves as a Director/Advisor of Slingshot Sports, Plainview Capital Management, NeoMedix, Everest Sciences, and Winery Exchange. He organized Sage Venture Partners, a "friends and family" venture capital fund, in 2000.

Mr. Warren is the non-executive chairman of the Ooyala Board of Directors. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania, and was a founding board member of the National Venture Capital Association. He holds an engineering degree from University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School.

Steven Abraham

Steven Abraham is the Global Media and Entertainment Leader for IBM’s Global Business Services division. Under his leadership, IBM's media and entertainment business has grown to include filmed entertainment, television, games, music, publishing, consumer products, theme parks, and sports, and expanded into emerging markets such as India and China. Before joining IBM, Mr. Abraham was Global Managing Partner of the Entertainment, Media and Communications consulting practice at Pricewaterhouse Coopers. He managed software development at Xerox Systems Development, and was a key member of a group that collaborated with Xerox’s famed Palo Alto Research Center. He also was involved in the early development of the Arpanet, which led to the creation of the Internet.

Mr. Abraham has a bachelor's degree in math and computer science from University of California, Santa Barbara and an M.S. in Computer Science from UCLA, where he was a Regent’s Scholar.

Tom Phillips

Tom Phillips is a President and CEO of Media6Degrees, a leader in the burgeoning field of harnessing social graph data to drive advertising performance for large online marketers. He has spent the last twenty-five years creating and managing innovative media and technology properties. Mr. Phillips co-founded Spy magazine in 1986, and served as its president and publisher during its five years as one of the most celebrated media properties in New York. He was a member of the original management team of Starwave Corporation in 1993, where he led the teams that developed ESPN.com, NFL.com, ABCNews.com and NBA.com. He became CEO of Deja.com in 1998, and sold that company to Google and eBay in 2001. Phillips was subsequently a venture partner at Insight Venture Partners, where he consulted to several digital marketing companies. In 2006, he joined Google, and served in stints as Director of Print Ads, Director of Media Platforms and Director of the DoubleClick integration before establishing the Search & Analytics team to pioneer new uses of Google data on behalf of major advertising clients.

Among other nonprofit activities, Phillips is on the board of Midnight Run, a homeless relief organization. Mr. Phillips holds a BA in applied mathematics from Harvard and a MBA from Stanford.

Carlos Ramon

Carlos Ramon is the General Manager of Global Ventures for Silver Spring Networks. Mr. Ramon has a strong track record in leading the global growth of innovative technology companies. Prior to Silver Spring, Carlos was the CEO of Conviva, Earlier, he was General Manager of Akamai’s Global Operations and VP of International Business Development & Operations at Peoplesoft.

Mr. Ramon is fluent in four languages and has lived in Brazil, France, Chile, Uruguay and the United States. He is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program and holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Baylor University.
